Department of Public Works contractors replace windows at the RIA Hydroelectric Power Plant and Dam at Building 160, March 10. The history of water power on Rock Island Arsenal goes back many years, but the most noticeable trace of it is seen at the hydroelectric dam and power plant located on Sylvan Slough, a backwater of the Mississippi River. The Rock Island Arsenal DPW preserves installation infrastructure and is a large part of garrison operations.
