A U.S. Army paratrooper assigned to 2nd Battalion, 503 Parachute infantry Regiment prepares to jump out of a C-130 Hercules for an airborne operation and to earn the right to wear Italian Jump Wings on their dress uniform. Training like this allows both allies to gain confidence in each other's equipment and procedures, and helps build the bonds of interoperability between both Armies.
Afterwards, there was a wing exchange ceremony for both U.S. and Italian paratroopers and they were awarded with each nations parachutist badge pinned by both forces respective leaders.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army’s Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United European, Africa and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployable across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthened the alliance.
