U.S. soldiers with the 1020th Vertical Engineer Company, 527th Engineer Battalion, Louisiana National Guard (LANG) collect meals, ready to eat and water from a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter for distribution at an emergency operation center in Grand Isle, La., Aug. 31, 2012. LANG had more than 8,000 soldiers and airmen ready to support area residents and local and state authorities in support of Hurricane Isaac operations. Isaac developed as a tropical storm over the Western Atlantic Ocean Aug. 21, 2012, affecting Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba before making landfall as a hurricane on the Gulf Coast of the United States.
