Darius Pittman of Melbourne, Fla., assigned to Echo Company, 123rd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division ran the three-kilometer event as part of seven activities required to compete in the German Armed Forces Sports Proficiency Badge or Deutsche Leisteingsabzeichen. He finished in first place for the three-k event for the men’s category with a runtime of 11:13. The GAFSPB can be worn on the U. S. Army service uniform, and is awarded in gold, silver or bronze.
