210405-M-JX780-1646 BAY OF BENGAL (April 5, 2021) – U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Benjamin Shalz, a UH-1Y Venom crew chief with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 164 (Reinforced), 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, observes an AH-1Z Viper take off from the amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25) during La Perouse 2021. USS Somerset is part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group with embarked 15th MEU operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility. La Perouse is an exercise during the annual French Navy midshipman deployment called Mission Jeanne d'Arc.
