U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. James Bierman, Commanding General, 3d Marine Division, presents a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal to U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Austin Rednerhlavacek, a rifleman with 3d Battalion, 8th Marines, 3d Marine Division at Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan, March 29, 2021. Rednerhlavacek’s squad was the winner of the 3d Marine Division Rifle Squad Competition. The event tested jungle survival skills, basic infantry tactics, and excellence in weapons handling. 3/8 is currently attached to 4th Marine Regiment as a part of the Unit Deployment Program.
