    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

    Pedro, a military working dog (MWD), performs a bite demonstration on U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Brett Lazaroff, a communication strategy and operations director, and a native of Tumon, Guam, both with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) in the Philippine Sea, Jan. 20, 2021. Pedro is trained to be a patrol, explosive, detection dog (PEDD) that helps protect Marines from enemy explosives and combatants. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
