U.S. Army Spc. Diana Owusu, unit supply specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1-137th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade, is originally from Ghana but came to the U.S. with her little brother eight years ago.
She joined the military to help pay for school and "to protect the people of this great country." On the civilian side, she spent five years as a nurse aide for children with intellectual disabilities. In that time, she completed her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She graduated in May 2020 but then deployed a month later.
When she gets home, she plans on completing the NCLEX, starting work as a registered nurse and enjoying her mom's cooking and going to the movies.
