Lt. Gen. R. Steven Whitcomb, commander of the Third Army and U.S. Army Central, addresses the combined staff of the Army National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division and Egyptian Army's 9th Armored Division during staff preparations for the Bright Star 2007 command post exercise in Cairo, Egypt, Nov. 8. With Whitcomb is Brig. Gen. Paul Genereux, division commander for the 42nd (Rainbow) Division and members of the 9th Armored Division staff. The Egyptian and American Soldiers will plan operations to support a battle simulation to better train both staffs and improve military to military relations. The 42nd Infantry Division headquarters is part of the New York Army National Guard based in Troy, N.Y.
