Yeoman 3rd Class Dante Miner recites the Oath of Reenlistment given by Chief Warrant Officer 2 Timothy Thurman, administration officer, during his Jan. 5 reenlistment ceremony in front of Building 1. Miner, a native of Detroit, Mich., has been in the Navy for 7 years and at NSA Souda Bay for 2 years. He reenlisted for 3 more years.
Miner is a member of the Administration Department and said his role is, “to assist my leading petty officer, (Yeoman 1st Class), and the (administration officer) with all the paperwork and correspondence – all the necessary things that I need to do on my end to make their jobs better.”
He said he aspires to learn more about his job and to be promoted in the next three years and that it was his grandfather who inspired him to reenlist.
“My late grandfather always wanted to join the Navy but he was unable to because he chose to take care of his family instead,” said Miner. “So one of his wishes was for his grandsons to do it, so I did it in his honor.”
