YOKOSUKA, Japan (December 23, 2020) Information Systems Technician 3rd Class Sephen Smothers, from Hartford County, Maryland, was promoted to his new rank Dec. 23rd while serving at Submarine Group 7. Smothers, who has been forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan since May 2019, is an integral part of the command’s watchteam, providing critical communications support to more than 25 deployed submarines and ships.
