U.S. Marines with 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), provide security from the turret during a motorized raid on Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 18, 2020. The 31st MEU utilized LAR to conduct a motorized raid during MEU Exercise in order to rehearse nontraditional ways of employing standard assets. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
