YOKOSUKA, Japan (Dec. 1, 2020) - ITS2 Kyle Nelson, from Castle Rock, Colorado, just checked on board Commander, Submarine Group 7 at Fleet Activities Yokosuka. After a successful tour aboard USS Nevada (SSBN 733) in Bangor, Washington, he set his sights on Japan as his second duty station. “I just really love the Japanese culture and food, and wanted this experience for my wife and kids,” he said. Nelson, who has been in the Navy for 6 years, lists among his goals for this tour getting an Associate’s degree, qualifying Communications Watch Officer and ultimately becoming a Chief of the Watch.
