    3rd Infantry Division

Maj. Gen. Antonio Aguto and Command Sgt. Maj. Quentin Fenderson, the command team of the 3rd Infantry Division, cut a cake with a saber in an early celebration of the Division’s 103rd birthday during a tactical exercise on Fort Stewart, Georgia, Nov. 19, 2020. The 3rd ID was activated at Camp Greene, North Carolina, on November 21, 1917. During World War I, as a member of the American Expeditionary Force to Europe, the Division earned its name as the "Rock of the Marne," when surrounding units retreated, the 3rd Infantry Division remained. The Division has a rich and storied history, having fought during two world wars, the Korean War, the Cold War and the War on Terrorism.
