Sgt. Matthew Howard, a cannon crew member with C Battery, 2nd Battalion, 142nd Fires Brigade, Arkansas Army National Guard, throw a simulation grenade during the urban operations portion of the Army National Guard's National Best Warrior Competition at Fort Benning, Ga., Aug. 1. Howard, a Clarksville, Ark. native, was named the National Guard's 2012 Noncommissioned Officer of the year by winning the competition.
