    U.S. Marine Corps Col. Vincent Dawson, the commanding officer of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Southern Command, welcomes Dominican Republic Navy Lt. Cmdr. Elvin Bienvenido Diaz at Jacksonville, North Carolina, Oct. 13, 2020. The U.S. and Dominican Republic Marines will work and train alongside each other as part of SPMAGTF-SC in subject matter expert exchanges and training for the duration of UNITAS LXI, a multinational, maritime exercise involving partner nations from Latin America and the Caribbean. The training and exchanges help strengthen the relationships between all the nations involved and achieve interoperability among the services. Dawson is a native of Portland, Oregon.
