Sgt. Ramon Charriez (l), 4th Quartermaster Detachment (Airborne), of Lawton, Okla., gives a team of soldiers their final brief on shooting an azimuth prior to the start of the land navigation course at Training Area 7B, JBER-Richardson, on July 26. Land navigation training instills confidence in the Soldier’s ability to understand the fundamentals of military map reading, combining the use of compass orientation, terrain association, and pace count techniques to navigate while dismounted.
