The Texas Army National Guard 100th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment’s Capt. Nadine Demoura, Staff Sgt. Amberlee Boverhuis, Spc. Miguel Ruiz, Sgt. 1st Class Melisa Washington, and Deborah MacLean and Eric Brassil from the public affairs office of the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, pose for a photo Sept. 17, 2020, at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo. The group met for a professional-development meeting after having worked in similar capacities in Kosovo for most of 2020. Demoura, Boverhuis, Ruiz, and Washington represent the public affairs office detachment to the U.S.-led Kosovo Force Regional Command East mission (a function of the NATO-led Operation Joint Guardian) who are charged with ensuring the safety and security and freedom of movement for the people of Kosovo. MacLean and Brassil’s public affairs operations centers around the U.S. Embassy located in Kosovo’s capital, Pristina. The two organization’s public affairs operations have occasionally crossed paths but they mostly operate independently of each other. Both organizations’ public affairs personnel are responsible for highlighting the operations of their respective organizations through multimedia distribution and media engagement, among other methods, promoting transparency of operations, and ultimately keeping each organization’s stakeholders well informed of operations.
