Two German Bundeswehr soldiers stand at attention under a large tent or hangar structure. Both are wearing desert camouflage uniforms (Tropentarn pattern) with German flag patches and face masks, suggesting a COVID-era military event or ceremony. The soldier on the left has a visible name tape reading 'GLOMB' and wears a green beret, while the soldier on the right wears a black beret.

Lieutenant Colonel (Oberstleutnant) Gerhard Glomb, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB) officer-in- charge, observes a group of U.S. and Coalition Force participants at Camp Arifijan, Kuwait on 18 Sept., 2020.

The German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB) is one of the few foreign awards authorized for wear on United States Army Soldier’s dress uniform. The GAFPB includes a basic fitness test featuring 11 shuttle sprints at 10-meters, a timed flexed-arm hang, and a 1,000 meter sprint. The GAFPB Combat Swim includes a 100 meter swim in the Army Combat Uniform and removal of the uniform upon completion while still treading water. The road march event of the GAFPB is a 12-kilometer ruck march carrying minimum of a 35-pounds performed in less than two hours. The German Armed Forces Badge weapon’s qualification event is comprised of a pistol marksmanship test at Udairi Range in Camp Buehring, Kuwait.
