Navy Diver Chief Don Acker, assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) medical department, prepares to lay to rest the deceased during a burial at sea ceremony on one of the ship's aircraft elevator. Thirty-five souls were laid to rest during the ceremony held aboard Ford Sept. 5, 2020. Ford is underway in the Atlantic Ocean conducting an independent steaming event.
