The use and addiction to alcohol, nicotine and illicit drugs costs the nation more than $740 billion a year in healthcare, crime and lost productivity. Knowing the warning signs of drug usage and addiction can save lives. If an Airman is struggling with an addiction, they can self-identify and seek help through the Peterson-Schriever Garrison Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program. The ADAPT program aims to "promote readiness, health and wellness through the prevention and treatment of substance misuse and abuse," according to Air Force Instruction 44-121. To get in touch with ADAPT, call the Peterson Mental Health Clinic at 556-7804. (U.S. Air Force graphic by Airman 1st Class Amanda Lovelace)
