SAN DIEGO (Sept. 3, 2020) Lt. j.g. Hanley Cullen, a registered nurse assigned to one of Naval Medical Center San Diego’s (NMCSD) wards (left), receives the DAISY Foundation’s Nurse Leader Award from Capt. Bradford Smith, NMCSD’s commanding officer (right), in one of the hospital’s wards Sept. 3. The DAISY Foundation’s Nurse Leader Award is awarded to those who create an environment of compassion and recognition for others. Award winners are role models for compassion and create environments that foster care, trust, mutual respect, continued professional development and mentor staff. NMCSD’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
