200826-N-RU810-1096 PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 26, 2020) Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) board a CH-53 Super Stallion helicopter assigned to the 31st MEU, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 262 (Reinforced) on the flight deck of the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) to conduct a visit, board, search and seizure exercise. America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
