Raul H. Yzaguirre (left), U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic observes a surgery procedure being conducted July 23 by a joint Dominican and U.S. team of ophthalmologists and medical personnel at the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces in Santo Domingo. The U.S. Army South-planned medical readiness and training exercise took place July 10-27. The MEDRETE team of Dominican and U.S. doctors conducted more than 350 eye surgeries on adults and children.
