U.S. Marines Cpl. Mark Perez, Lance Cpl. David Rapalo-Ruiz, and Lance Cpl. Jacob Thacker, combat engineers with Logistics Combat Element, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, prepare DET cord for a demolition range at Kangaroo Flats Training Area, NT, Australia, July 23, 2020. The purpose of this demolition range was for Marines to strengthen their skills of breaching defensive barriers and expand their knowledge on different charges used for breaching. This range was part of a week-long field exercise for MRF-D Marines to enhance their combat assault skills to become a more lethal and competent expeditionary fighting force in order to be prepared to respond to regional crises and contingencies.
