Sgt. 1st Class Patrick Shields poses with his family following a ceremony in which he received The Soldier's Medal, July 10, from Gov. Bill Lee, in Brownsville. Shields, a member of the Tennessee National Guard's 1175th Transportation Company, acted heroically back in October 2018 when he stopped, disarmed and restrained a shooter after shots were fired in a parking lot following a high school football game.
