FORT BLISS, Texas – Maj. Gen. Patrick Matlock, the commanding general of 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss, is welcomed by senior leaders from across 1AD following his return to Fort Bliss after a deployment to Afghanistan, June 18. 1AD committed more than 250 Soldiers to the mission in Afghanistan last summer, providing leadership and excellence to the partner and coalition-led operations aimed at enhancing stability in the region.
