Seeing to the details: Soldiers form force for camp tasks

Spc. Cameron Durham, left, a member of Camp Buehring’s First Sergeant’s Detail, and Third Infantry Division Soldier Spc. Shane Shahan, re-erect a sunshade that had partially collapsed in the strong winds that blow across the camp. Setting up sunshades is just one of the myriad of jobs the detail takes care of to help sustain the camp and the nearly 7,000 personnel who live and work there. The half-dozen soldiers of the First Sergeant’s Detail belong to the 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry Regiment, South Carolina Army National Guard, which took over camp and security-force operations in northern Kuwait in April. The detail occasionally receives help from soldiers of other units, like Shahan. Durham is from Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Shahan is from Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
