200605-N-UP025-003 San Diego, Calif. (June 5, 2018) A mine countermeasures platoon from Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Mobile Unit Eleven conducts surf passage training on the Silver Strand Training Complex South in Imperial Beach, Calif. under the supervision of EOD Training and Evaluation Unit One. Navy EOD technicians are the only EOD force that is trained to clear underwater explosives at sea and must train on maritime insertion and extraction methods for their expeditionary mine countermeasure (ExMCM) mission. Navy EOD’s ExMCM capabilities make the force a crucial enabler for the Navy and Joint force to be able to maneuver where they want to, when they want to. (U.S. Navy photo by Lt.
