Three U.S. Marines in desert MARPAT camouflage uniforms are participating in a memorial ceremony, likely a 'Fallen Comrade' or battlefield cross ceremony. The three front Marines are each carrying symbolic items — a rifle with bayonet, combat boots, and a combat helmet — which are components of the traditional battlefield cross tribute. A formation of additional Marines stands at attention in the background beneath shade structures in what appears to be a forward operating base.
