200413-N-ME396-1008 GROTON, Conn. (April 13, 2020) Chief Culinary Specialist (Submarine) Kevin Stanton gives Culinary Specialist (Submarine) 3rd Class Walter King a facial covering to wear while on the job. A local quilt company filled the Cross Hall Galley procurement order for facial coverings, as personnel onboard Naval Submarine Base New London (SUBASE) adhere to DOD and Navy guidelines seeking to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. SUBASE and its Sailors continue measures such as facial coverings, increased hygiene protocols, and physical distancing when possible, to mitigate COVID-19 and help ensure the base and personnel are healthy and ready to support the essential mission, providing national security and defense when needed.
