Cmdr. James Zmijski with the Expeditionary Medical Facility New Orleans Detachment prepares to conduct wellness checks at the personal housing unit (PHU) April 28, 2020. The PHU is designed for symptomatic patients with pending COVID-19 test results. The EMF works in coordination with federal, state, and local health officials to ensure equipment and resources are in place and are operationally capable to safely treat patients.
