Tradesmen for Turner Construction Company, Chicago, have been working around the clock to transform the previous Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois, into a 280 COVID19 patient bed Alternate Care Facility by April 24. The facility is one of four sites in Illinois that the Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District, in support of the White House, Department of Defense, FEMA, and state and local officials, is constructing as a precaution in the fight against the pandemic. Once all sites are complete, a total of 4000 COVID19 positive patient beds will be available for use around the state.
