BATON ROUGE – Seaman Gavin Bish, a Sailor with Expeditionary Medical Facility-M, cleans personal protective equipment at Baton Rouge General Mid City campus in support of Department of Defense COVID-19 response April 18, 2020. This week the BRG Mid City campus welcomed 74 Navy medical professionals to help staff two new 30-bed units and integrate with the Intensive Care Unit. EMF-M coordinates closely with state, local, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of their personnel and the local population. The service members are not intended to replace existing staff or take roles that could be filled by team members who might be reassigned from low volume areas. They work to ease the strain of the significant patient care surge as part of the BRG Mid City family. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, is providing military support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help communities in need. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Staff Sgt.
