A Maryland National Guard medical assistance team returns to Camp Frettered Military Reservation in Reisterstown, Md., after a visit to a long-term care facility April 8, 2020. Medical assistance teams are led by a medical doctor or advanced medical practitioner and also include a field medic, administrative, logistical, and behavioral health specialists, and drivers. They identify potential and existing needs and strengthen facility policies, protocols, and procedures in line with state and federal guidance related to COVID-19 and immediately adopt a series of enhanced protective measures to protect those with underlying health conditions.
