Staff Sgt. Adam Meyer, air transportation supervisor assigned to the 509th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, ratchets down a piece of equipment on a C-17 Globemaster on March 13, 2020, at Lajes Field, Portugal. Meyer was the NCO who had the primary hands-on responsibility for moving the Airmen and key support equipment needed to support Bomber Task Force Europe. Logistical support such as this ensures they are safe and secure as they travel from one location to the next to support their B-2 Spirit fleet. U.S. Strategic Command routinely conducts such oeprations across the globe to demonstrate U.S. commitment to collective defense as these aircraft, Airmen and key support equipment from Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, integrate with Geographic Combatant Command operations and activities.
