Cowan with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, under the Unit Deployment Program, fires an M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle during a marksmanship drill on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan, March 13, 2020. One of the drills Marines utilize to maintain their lethality involves firing at close ranges as well as gradual movements towards a target to simulate closing with the enemy.
