Chaplain (Maj.) John Gabriel, from the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School, administers Holy Communion to an attendee of the Ash Wednesday Mass held at the Main Post Chapel Feb. 26. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent in the Catholic faith. It also coincides with the end of Mardi Gras, known as Fat Tuesday. Fort Jackson community members also partook in Fat Tuesday traditions of eating freshly-baked beignets, King Cake and drinking chicory coffee.
