The 842nd Transportation Battalion Surface Warriors and their stevedore partners received and offloaded vehicles from multiple Europe-bound Army units from across the United States February 19, 2019 in support of DEFENDER-Europe 20 outside the Port of Port Arthur, Texas. Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command units practice fort-to-port and port-to-port tasks to rapidly deploy, fight and win when called. This exercise is testing the U.S. Army’s ability to rapidly deploy a large combat-credible force alongside its allies and partners, building strategic readiness and operationalizing the the National Defense Strategy.
