A young man seated in a wheelchair is adjusting or attaching prosthetic legs. Two prosthetic limbs with carbon fiber blades and rubber-soled feet are visible, and the man appears focused on securing one of them. The setting appears to be a residential room with carpeted flooring and white cabinetry in the background.

Montville, N.J., native Lance Cpl. Adrian Simone, an infantryman with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, puts on his running prosthetic in his room before unit physical training. Physical fitness has always been a big part of Simone’s life. “I was a runner, I ran a good amount before I decided to join (the Marine Corps) and when I decided, I spruced it up, used to do pack runs around town. When I’m trying to work out and run it’s just me, running, the road and time to think, in nature.”
