    200127-M-MV109-1014 GULF OF ADEN (Jan. 27, 2020) A Marine assigned to Weapons Company, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), provides security during a transit through the Bab al-Mandeb aboard the amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21). Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 26th MEU, is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
