Mar-Le Wendt, a female veteran who served in the Navy, sits and listens to a speaker at one of the many workshops offered at the 2012 Washington Women-Veterans’ Conference at Hotel Murano, Tacoma, Wash., which was presented by the Washington State Department of Veteran Affairs and a host of other sponsors in the Tacoma-Seattle area June 16. Wendt said she is 89 years old, but “still a veteran”. The purpose of the conference was to take a holistic approach to women veterans’ benefits. The conference promoted future growth, and prosperity within the female veteran population.
