Lt. Col. Tim Julian flashes the emblem of his “Red Devils” among some of his deployed aircraft at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. Julian commands both the 50th Airlift Squadron, Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., and their deployed identity, the 774th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron at Bagram. He was pivotal in tying the 50th and 52nd Airlift Squadrons back together in 2009, when the Air Force decided to create a new Active Associate unit with the 302nd Airlift Wing at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo.
