FORT BENNING, Ga. – At the Fort Benning Tax Center Jan. 27, staff get things ready for business, which starts Feb. 3. The center is in building 130 at Morrison and Ingersoll, near the Benning Club. Staff will prepare tax forms and file them electronically – all free – for Soldiers, retirees and eligible family members. The staff is now booking appointments. A grand opening ceremony at the tax center is scheduled for Jan. 31 at 2:30 p.m. Last year, the center provided free tax preparation to 2,035 eligible clients, and saved them a total of $567,971 in tax preparation fees.
