The 81st Readiness Division hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new U.S. Army Reserve Center at the Cornerstone Industrial Complex in Starkville, Miss., Jan. 24, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill joined 81st RD Commanding General Maj. Gen. Kenneth D. Jones, and other distinguished guests for the rendering unveiling and ceremonial shoveling. Trans4Fed, a Purvis, Miss.-based construction services company, is building the 24,000-square-foot, $10.3 million Reserve Center, which will also feature a 2,800-square-foot maintenance facility. The new center will replace the Guy II and Will Jones Memorial Army Reserve Center off Highway 12, which will more than double the size of the previous center; the Army Reserve built the older facility in 1958.
