The scout platoon of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, conduct a scout validation exercise from Jan. 21-22 at the Novo Selo Training Area in Bulgaria. Scout validation is an annual requirement for Army Cavalry Scouts to ensure their readiness and mission capabilities. They are evaluated on their abilities to navigate terrain in a stealth manner while accurately gathering, assessing and reporting information, along with providing security and engaging targets when necessary.
