A man in a dark business suit is addressing a small group of uniformed individuals in what appears to be a classroom or lecture hall with wood-paneled walls. The audience members, wearing matching dark gray uniforms with patches, are seated in chairs with desk arms and appear to be trainees or cadets. A wooden podium is visible in the background, suggesting a formal instructional or briefing setting.

Along with compiling the full recommended reading list for the Commandant’s Reading List, Brig. Gen. Curtis A. Buzzard selected “The Unforgiving Minute: A Soldier’s Education” as the focus book for the 2020-21 academic year. The book was written by West Point Class of 2000 graduate Craig Mullaney, a Rhodes Scholar and Airborne Ranger who deployed to Afghanistan during his time in the Army, who spoke to cadets who read the book.
