Mark Comora, president of Fortistar LLC, Col. Frank A. Richie, commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and the Honorable Jerry Sanders, mayor of San Diego, monitor a generator’s start-up progress during the opening ceremony for the Miramar Energy Project aboard MCAS Miramar June 14. The project is a joint venture between the City of San Diego, Fortistar LLC and the air station and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, reduces the energy load on the local grid and moves the air station in the direction of energy independence.
