Marines with Bravo Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, lift a field-expedient stretcher during a basic course at the Jungle Warfare Training Center, Camp Gonsalves, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 20, 2019. The Marines practiced rappelling, land navigation, and patrolling at JWTC, in preparation for an upcoming deployment of the Indo-Pacific region. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
