191122-N-EO124-8212 IWAKUNI, Japan (Nov. 22, 2019) U.S. Navy Seabees deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s Detail Iwakuni, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni Transportation Department contractors, and U.S. Army Landing Craft Utility mariners plan to offload a roller for the landfill capping project in support of MCAS Iwakuni. Seabees deployed with NMCB-5’s Detail Iwakuni are completing the Landfill Capping Project to reduce the risk of the bird aerial strike hazard incidents and local wild life from inhabiting areas around MCAS flight operations areas. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
